COLLABORATORS
BALLET EVOLUTION
OUR MISSION

Ballet Evolution promotes the development of collaborative arts in the Charleston community through professional ballet performances integrating live music and arts education.

OUR STORY

In 2013, Hans Christian Anderson’s holiday classic, The Little Match Girl was brought to life in an original ballet that marked the first collaboration between three Charleston performing arts organizations. The ballet included an original score by UNED!TED's Laura Ball, choreography by Charleston Dance Institute's Jonathan Tabbert, the musicians of Chamber Music Charleston and the pre-professional youth ballet company of the Charleston Dance Institute. The ballet has become a community favorite and a successful “first child” of this artistic team. As the passion of our “artistic collective” grew, so did our vision into the conceptualization and formation of a professional collaborative arts ballet company; Ballet Evolution.

Ballet Evolution is designed to act as a hub for the creation of new dance works and musical compositions. We will provide the highest level of quality dance performances highlighting the use of live music and the integration of arts education. Our distinguished artistic staff, nationally recognized dancers and musicians, and unique performance offerings will truly set this company apart from what is currently available in the Charleston market. BE will create the highest level of quality public performances to provide an essential dance experience for our patrons and enhance the current arts atmosphere of our city. As Ballet Evolution becomes a beacon in the local arts community, it will serve as a stepping stone to our future goal of including regional and national touring to the company’s mission.
